Anglicanorum Coetibus liturgy

Fr. Anthony Chadwick at The Anglo-Catholic gives some clues about the liturgy in future Anglicanorum Coetibus ordinariate(s). This really isn’t my area . Any comments, Cody, or others?

  1. One might hope that the authorities responsible for finalizing the liturgy for the Personal Ordinariates for former Anglicans would take into consideration the work done in adapting the Book of Common Prayer for the “Western Rite” Vicariate of the Antiochian Orthodox Church in the USA, published in the Andrew’s Service Book, which can be viewed online here, and ordered from most Orthodox Christian bookstores.

Also of interest in this regard is the rather elegant edition of the Book of Common Prayer published by Lancelot Andrewes Press, which incorporates Orthodox liturgical material as well as some rites from pre-Vatican II Roman sources (including the 1955 ‘restored’ Holy Week liturgies). I have not been able to ascertain if an Orthodox body has confirmed this book for its Western Rite faithful; it is, nevertheless, an interesting liturgical hybrid. . . and one that I’m never sure where to shelve (BCP, or Orthodox Service Books?)
