GOSPEL COMMUNION: 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time

July 3, 2022 : 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today’s antiphon grafts together two verses from the Gospel of the day, Luke 10:20 and 10:11. The verses are from Psalm 40, with its theme of placing our trust in the Lord, as suggested in the 1998 ICEL Antiphonal.

Both antiphon and psalm verses relate to the notion of being sent out as disciples by the Lord, trusting in him to provide and protect us. The verse tone, based on the antiphon, includes a half-refrain at the end of every two lines of the psalm, engaging the assembly more fully.
