Those of us committed to the Church’s worship who want the implementation to go as well as possible will have our work cut out for us. The people in the pews will want to know just why we’re doing all this.

Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW), published in 2006, is the new primary worship resource for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), also serving the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. The first thing you notice is that that word “book” is missing. It’s a new day.
My students have had to read the following: Baptism is to be in ‘ύδωρ ζων. Several documents “are classified with the vague Sammelbegriff ‘Gallican missals’.” The Bobbio Missal has a rite “ad christianum faciendum.” A canon from a council “…signifie donc que l’intervention personelle de ’évêque est limité…”
