January 9, 2022 : Feast of the Baptism of the Lord (1st Sunday in Ordinary Time), Year C)
Today’s antiphon, originally inspired by 1 John 4:9 and used on the feast of the Holy Family, here picks up the theme of the revealing of God in Jesus as expressed in the 2nd Reading:
Beloved:
The grace of God has appeared (Titus 2:11)
and
When the kindness and generous love
of God our savior appeared (Titus 3:4)
Verses are taken from Psalm 98 and Ephesians 1.
As we process to receive Communion, we pray that we may have life through the Love of God made incarnate.
The antiphon is in call-response form throughout, and there is an optional overlapping conclusion in three parts giving the effect of the pealing of bells, which will be heard at the end of this extract from the CD Walk in My Ways.
