GOSPEL COMMUNION: 3rd Sunday of Easter

April 18 2021 : 3rd Sunday of Easter

Today’s antiphon is a mosaic of Jesus’s sayings, starting with today’s Gospel (Luke 24):

“Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones
as you can see I have.”

followed by John 21:12:

“Come and have breakfast.”

(which is actually from the Year C Gospel), and culminating in John 6:35:

“I am the bread of life.”

The connection with Jesus’s invitation in Communion to touch and eat the bread that is his body needs no further spelling out.

Psalm verses come from Ps 78, following one of the suggestions in the 1998 Antiphonal. As with last Sunday, the psalm tone closely mirrors the contours of the antiphon.
