January 24, 2021: Third Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year B)
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus proclaims the gospel of God in Galilee:
This is the time of fulfillment.
The kingdom of God is at hand.
Repent, and believe in the gospel. (Mark 1:15)
and in verse 17, the command “Come after me.”
Earlier in the Liturgy of the Word, we heard these words:
Your ways, O Lord, make known to me;
teach me your paths.” (Ps 25:4)
These ideas combine in this Sunday’s jaunty antiphon, which can also be sung as an ostinato round, with additional voice parts also in a round. The verses are taken from Psalm 96, following the suggestion in the Graduale Romanum.
A sample recording of the setting from the CD Walk in My Ways is available here.
