Brother Roger of Taizé

To mark the 70th anniversary of Taizé and the 5th anniversary of the death of Brother Roger, the founder of Taizé, an extract from unpublished video interviews with Brother Roger is appearing on the Taizé web site at the beginning of each month.

Here is a truly great pastor, someone who cared for people and who saw that God does so too. We can all take heart from a man who, if he had been a Catholic, would surely have been fast-tracked for canonization by now.

I had the pleasure of being in Taize the week before he died. As I was in the choir I got pretty close to him. His peaceful presence was just awesome. I remember one prayer he made about the Holy Spirit touching whatever is most fragile in us. He rarely spoke up in Church and so when he did it made a huge impact.

Thanks for posting these videos. I will relay them via my site.
